GE developed the DS3800NHVD1E1B to be installed as a high voltage card in their Mark IV systems. The Mark IV is a system designed for gas/steam turbine control that automates certain processes for consistent management. This includes procedures such as shutdown and cooling. The Mark IV can also monitor air, water and fuel emissions.

Milling on the DS3800NHVD1E1B consists of three elliptical cuts towards the top of the board. These ovals are placed so that their long dimensions pass through the short plate dimensions. The cuts are parallel to each other. Boards are marked (A to L) for alignment and drilled in pairs at the factory eight times around the edge of the board, including each corner.

The DS3800NHVD1E1B has two connector points, three leds and three transformers, each of which is labeled 218A4499P2C1. The board has three 4-pin connectors and one multi-pin connector (vertical, male).
