The 1746-A10 is an Allen-Bradley chassis for use with the SLC 500 modular Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform.

This hardware hosts electronic circuits and interconnect slots to distribute backplane power to connected modules. It can accommodate up to ten (10) SLC 500 modules (excluding power supply). The power supply has a separate connection slot located on the far left side of the hardware. Only the SLC 500 power supply can only be used with this hardware.

SLC 500 enclosures (such as the 1746-A10) allow 1746-C9 and 1746-C7 extension cables to be used to connect or extend enclosures. Up to three (3) SLC enclosures can be connected, for a total of up to 30 SLC 500 modules. Each case should have a separate power supply.

When installing the chassis, the clearance between the top and bottom Spaces is 15.3 cm or 6.0 inches, and the clearance between the sides is 10.2 cm or 4.0 inches. If mounting next to another SLC chassis, maintain a gap of 7.7 cm to 10.2 cm or 3.0 to 4.0 inches.

Use M4 or M5 screws and star washers to install the chassis. Slide the chassis and tighten the screws to lock the chassis to its installation position. Each chassis must be properly grounded using a ground bar or properly designed center ground.
