The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16I is a ControlLogix discrete input module. The module has sixteen (16) independently isolated input channels that accept an input signal voltage range of 10-30VDC with a nominal value of 24VDC. The module is commonly used to connect discrete devices such as buttons, switches, auxiliary contacts, and other devices that provide binary or ON-OFF signal states.

The 1756-IB16 is a single slot module that can be installed into any 1756 ControlLogix chassis. It can be connected to any available slot, except for the most slot dedicated to the ControlLogix processor or communication adapter. As a result, the 1756-IB16I can be used for local I/O configurations as well as remote or distributed I/O architectures.

The 1756-IB16I input channel has an inherent signal conversion delay. For the OFF to ON conversion, the signal delay is up to 1 ms + filter time hardware delay, where the user can configure the filter time, such as 0 ms, 1 ms, or 2 ms. For ON-to-off conversion, the signal delay consists of a maximum of 4 ms+ filtering time, with optional filtering times of 0 ms, 1 ms, 2 ms, 9 ms, or 18 ms.
