Allen-Bradley 1771-IBD is a discrete input in the 1771 product family. The module is a single slot wide assembly with primarily sixteen (16) discrete input channels of 10-30VDC. It is installed on any available 4-case except the 1771-A1771, 1-A1771, and 2-A1771.

Discrete input modules such as the 1771-IBD are commonly used to connect field signal devices, such as switches, sensors, auxiliary contacts that indicate the state of the process. It is particularly compatible for use with on/off; 1 or 0 or binary operation device.

The 1771-IBD is equipped with eighteen (18) LED status indicators that provide information about the status of the module and the status of the signal present on each input channel of the module. It also comes with a field wiring arm and is compatible with replacement part number 1771-WH. Field wiring arms are used to provide a modular wiring method because they can be removed from the module when terminating the signal. In addition, they help simplify maintenance as they can be removed and installed on a compatible module without having to disconnect the connected wires.

The 1771-IBD requires a minimum input current of 4.5mA (10VDC) and 15mA (30VDC) and a minimum off state current of 2.0mA @ 5VDC. For low to high signal conversion, it has an input signal delay of 1ms, and for high to low signal conversion, it has an input signal delay of 1ms or 6ms. It is rated for power consumption of 7.3 watts (maximum) and 1.0 watts (minimum), and heat dissipation of 24.7 BTU/ hour (maximum) and 3.4 BTU/ hour (minimum).
