The 1794-IT8 is a Flex I/O analog input module. Specifically, this is a thermocouple and millivolt input module. It comes with eight (8) analog input channels, compatible with thermocouple sensors such as J, K, E, R, N, S, B, C, T, and L, direct interfaces, and has a millivolt range of +/-76.5m.

The 1794-IT8 is compatible with any available Flex I/O communication adapter.

Before inserting the 1794-IT8 module into the terminal base, the user should turn the key switch on the base to position 3, as this position is necessary for the safe installation and operation of the thermocouple /mV module. Allen-Bradley 1794-IT8 FLEX I/O thermocouple module communicates with PLC via block transfer option. Block transfer programming relies on input signal data words that move between the memory of the thermocouple module and a specified region in the PLC data sheet. Block transfer programming also supports moving configuration words from the PLC data sheet to the thermocouple module. The Allen-Bradley 1794-IT8 module is equipped with 2 cold end compensators designed to be installed at specified locations in the terminal base unit. The module can accept both grounded and ungrounded thermocouples. The nominal input range of the input signal is -7.65 to 7.65 mV. The module provides 24 volts DC with a 16-bit input signal resolution. On the front of the module, there is an inserted label, of which 8 fields are reserved for a single input designation. The 1794-IT8 has a normal mode rejection ratio of -60 dB at 60 Hz with a common-mode input range of +/-10 volts, a common-mode rejection ratio of -60 dB at 115 Hz and 50 dB at 100 Hz.
