The Allen-Bradley 2711P-RP1 is a PanelView Plus component. This component is designed to host logic modules for various interfaces and contains the necessary memory areas and processors for the PanelView Plus operating terminal.

The 2711P-RP1 is installed at the back of the display module. The display module comes with internal memory for operating the terminal runtime interface with 64 MB of random access memory (RAM), and 64 MB of flash memory for storing files such as application backups, manuals, logs, recipes, reports, and other system files.

The 2711P-RP1 logic module is connected to the display module circuit through a PCI slot. Proper grounding must be observed when installing this module, as the components are highly sensitive to static electricity.

The 2711P-RP1 is compatible with PanelView Plus 700, 1000, 1250, and 1500 operating terminals. The device is replacement hardware, as any PanelView Plus 700-1500 comes with a pre-installed logic module. Similarly, the fully functional PanelView Plus operation terminal requires a logic module.

The 2711P-RP1 module is powered by an external 24VDC power supply. It comes with standard communication interfaces such as an Ethernet port, a 9-pin mini DIN RS232 port and a USB port. The Ethernet port is used to connect the PanelView terminal to one or more controllers via the Ethernet I/P protocol, while the RS232 interface is used for point-to-point connections. Ethernet can cover longer distances, up to 100 meters, and can be easily expanded. RS232 connections are ideal for short-range connections in panel communications. The logic module is also equipped with two (2) USB ports for connecting peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse.
