GE created the DS3800HXCA1D1D PCB as part of its Speedtronic Mark IV series. The system is designed for steam and gas turbine control and features an integrated chipset with overlapping functions that immediately takes over responsibility for PCBS that encounter failure. This gives the end user the opportunity to repair and/or replace damaged PCBS with little loss of overall system uptime.

The DS3800HXCA1D1D is used as a shift register board. The DS3800HXCA1D1D has multiple integrated circuits, including a flip-flop (SN74LS20N,), DIP (SN24S74N,), and EPROM. It is designed with five resistance networks. These can be designed to convert data from digital to analog, or vice versa, or for partial pressure. The resistor on this PCB is usually a metal film covered with ceramic.

The DS3800HXCA1D1D has two female connectors, one at each end of the PCB. It has three test points, five leds (four red and one amber), a set of spare PTH (electroplated through holes) and seven jumper switches. Five jumper switches are placed in a line near the edge of the board. The other two jumpers are separate. The J7 offers a choice of "5.5mHz" or "11mHz".
