The DS3800HPBD is part of the General Electric Mark IV Speedtronic series. The MKIV is the first of GE's Speedtronic systems, which employ three identical control systems that work independently of each other in a three-module redundant system. This type of system significantly reduces downtime.

The DS3800HPBD consists of multiple diodes, including fifty cyan, three large silver, and one light blue diode. In addition, there are about 45 resistors on the board. Each resistor is different in size and color, and has a different number of different color bands. These frequency bands show how many ohms each resistor can handle.

The DS3800HPBD board also has a large concave connection port on the left edge of the board, and two gray clamps on the other side. The board has 12 EEPROM chips and an additional 20 EPROM chips. If additional programming space is required, the DS3800HPBD has a section where additional EPROM or EEPROM can be installed. This section is labeled "Spare" and has the necessary connection points around it.

The DS3800HPBD has two red leds. There is also a small toggle switch in the corner of the board. The DS3800HPBD also features nine jumper switches. The jumper has three small caps that can be moved to change the energy flow. The DS3800HPBD also has some blue wires connecting the different terminals on the board.
