The GE Parallel Line buffer board DS3800HPBC1A1B is designed for quick installation in drives. The board has a modular connector at one end and a fixed rod at the other end. The GE Parallel line buffer board DS1HPBC3800A1B also has a red LED indicator and an amber LED, visible from the front of the board. The board is also equipped with 2 trimmer resistors and multiple capacitors.

Another component on the board is a transistor-to-transistor logic (TTL) device. It serves as the interface logic between integrated circuits. Trimmer resistors are adjustable resistors. They can be adjusted to improve the performance of the drive. Trimmer resistors are called trimmer potentiometers because they are potentiometers. That is, small screws can be turned to change the resistance of the component. To use a trimmer potentiometer, have a fully functional test device ready. Place the circuit board on an anti-static mat free of dirt and dust. Keep the board away from objects that scratch the surface or bottom of the board. Any scratch could damage the board. Use the test equipment to monitor the trimmer and turn the screw until the desired resistance is reached.

When finished, you can drop electrical glue on the screw. It hardens and prevents the screw from turning accidentally. However, the glue can be stripped to allow for further adjustment. You may need to do this if the motherboard is installed in another drive.
