It is one of several turbine control systems offered by the company under the name Speedtronic. The Mark IV was the first of these systems to provide distributed control.

The DS3800HLIC1C1A is used as an isolation logical board in Mark IV. This is one of several versions of the board available for Mark IV. The Mark IV's hardware is designed to be hot-swappable, or replaced while the system is running, without compromising turbine efficiency. As a result, the board is equipped with backplane connectors for easy insertion and removal of the rack system, as well as extractor clips for quick removal and insertion of the board.

The DS3800HLIC1C1A is designed with stiffeners that extend bidirectionally over the surface of the plate. These remove or limit any flexibility in the board that may damage or loosen the installed components. Other board components include integrated circuit (IC) resistors, capacitors, and transistors.
