These terminal boards extend the functionality of the PDIO package, as the previous PDIO package could only work with two attachment terminal boards. The terminal plate is marked as the relay contact terminal plate of the intrinsic safety device.

The unit contains two Ethernet ports, a local processor and a data acquisition board for the GE Mark VI Speedtronic series. The electronics of the Mark VIe I/O bag, introduced in 2004, are outdated. The front panel of the IS220PDIOH1B includes an Ethernet port for device power and an LED indicator for the "attn" LED. Other indicators are related to relay connections.

The minimum rated voltage of the IS220PDIOH1B is 27.4 VDC, while the nominal rated voltage is 28.0 VDC. The device and its associated patch panels have field-specific wiring connection instructions that must be followed, including wire size and screw torque.

When using TDBS or TDBT board on IS220PDIOH1B, there are 24 field terminals.
