489-P5-LO-A20-E is a GE Dohring relay for the GESR series of relays (the same family as the GE Dohring 469 motor protection relay and GE Dohring 735 feeder protection relay). The 489-P5-LO-A20-E is designed for generator protection and can be used in induction or synchronous generators. The unit can operate at 25, 50 or 60 Hz.

The 489-P5-LO-A20-E features a 40-character display design that allows users to view numeric messages, diagnostics, and set values. The front panel includes a numeric keypad, status indicators, value up and down keys, RS232 port interfaces, and control and programming keys including reset, Enter, menu, Menu on, and menu down keys. This allows control without being connected to an external computer.

The rear panel includes 485 RTD inputs, 3 output relays, 0 RS19200 communication ports, and <> VT inputs. RTDS are field programmable. Communication ports can use ModbusRTU or DNP <>.<> protocols (or both) up to <> bps.

The 489-P5-LO-A20-E's rear panel also includes four isolated 20-489 mA analog inputs and outputs and five assignable digital inputs. There are seven CT inputs for three-phase output/three-phase neutral line and ground current detection, as well as a separate safety and filter ground. All inputs on the 20-P37-LO-A990-E comply with SWC, C<>.<> EMI, RFI interference immunity.
