The 3500/25 Enhanced Keyphaser module is a semi-tall, dual-channel module used to provide Keyphasor signals to the monitoring module of the 3500 rack. The module receives an input signal from a proximity detector or magnetic pickup and converts the signal into a digital critical phase signal, indicating when the critical phasor mark on the axis coincides with the critical phasor transducer. The 3500-year-old mechanical protection system can accept up to four critical phase signals in normal configurations and up to eight Keyphasor signal pairs.
Note: A key phase signal is one or more events per turn per turn from a rotating shaft or gear used to pulse to provide accurate timing measurements. This allows 3,500 monitoring modules and external diagnostic equipment to measure vector parameter stages such as shaft speed and 1X vibration amplitude.
The Enhanced Critical phasor module is an improved 3500 system module. It offers extended Keyphasor signal processing capabilities compared to previous designs while maintaining a fully backward compatible form that fits and functions with existing Keyphasor modules for use in legacy systems. The Keyphasor module, PWA 125792-01, was completely replaced by the most recent 149369-01 module. When three-mode redundancy (TMR) requires system critical phasor inputs in an application, the 3500 system should adopt two Keyphasor modules. This configuration module works in parallel to provide primary and secondary critical phasor signals to other modules in the rack. Systems with more than four key phasor inputs can use a paired configuration provided that there are no more than four major Keyphasor input signals. A paired configuration requires two consecutive monitoring positions at any up/down or two half-slot positions. The four critical phase modules will accept four primary input channels and four backup input channels, and provide four output channels (1 per module).

Two paired and one unpaired configurations (the total number of three key phasor modules) are also possible. In such a configuration, the user can configure a non-paired Keyphasor(order two 2-channel or one 1-channel and one 2-channel option) to isolate the key phasor I/O module is designed for applications where critical phasor signals are connected in parallel with multiple devices and need to be isolated from other systems, such as control systems. Isolated I/O modules have been created specifically for magnetic pickup applications, but are compatible with and will provide isolated supplies for Proximitor* applications as long as an external power supply is available.

Note that the primary purpose of this I/O module is to measure shaft speed, not phase. The module can provide phase but this I/O introduces a slightly higher phase shift than the non-isolated I/O version. Figure 1 shows the isolated phase-shift amount of I/O modules that will be added at different machine speeds. Enhanced product features include generating once-per-turn event signals from multi-event per-turn inputs, on-site firmware upgrades, and asset management data reports.
