采集器还可通过红外通讯接口，在现场与手抄器通信，接受手抄器发出的各种命令，传送采集器所记录的各种数据。

通过采集电表脉冲或rs232等通讯方式管理12块、32块或64块电表（可以根据电表的数量选择不同型号的采集器），然后通过电力载波把这些电表的数据上传给集中器。

集中器通常一个变台区一个，装在变压器附近，如配电室。
