The RET670 provides fast and selective protection, monitoring and control for two - and three-winding transformers, autotransformers, booster transformers and generator transformer block units, phase shifting transformers, special railway transformers and shunt reactors. IED is designed to work correctly over a wide frequency range to accommodate frequency changes in the power system during interference and generator start-up and shutdown.
The RET670 features fast, low-impedance differential protection with very low ct requirements. It is suitable for differential applications in multi-circuit breaker arrangements with up to six constrained CT inputs. Differential protection features second harmonic and waveform block restraint to avoid CT saturation and transformer inrush current tripping, and fifth harmonic restraint to avoid transformer overexcitation tripping.
Differential function provides high sensitivity for low-level internal faults by using sensitive differential protection based on amplitude measurement and negative sequence component direction comparison. A variety of low impedance limited ground fault protection functions as a sensitive and fast winding ground fault main protection. This feature includes an internal/external fault discriminator for added security.
In addition, it also has a high impedance differential protection function. It can be used for different applications, including winding protection, autotransformer differential protection, shunt reactor protection, T-feeder protection, busbar protection, and generator differential protection for limited ground fault protection.
Trip and alarm signals for decompression, Buchholz and temperature devices can be sent directly to the RET670 via binary input channels for alarm and backup purposes. The binary input is highly stable and prevents interference to prevent wrong operation, for example, DC system capacitor discharge or DC ground failure.
