The MTL838B-MBF is an analog multiplexer receiver used with the MTL831B hazardous area millivolt input multiplexer transmitter. The status of up to 32 analog inputs can be transmitted from the danger zone to the safety zone via two data highways, each consisting of a simple pair of twisted pairs, at distances of up to 500 meters. When the input is located in a hazardous zone, each data highway must be protected by the MTL3052 digital isolator. The MTL831B is typically used with thermocouples and RTD inputs and is inherently safe. It can be installed in zone 0 danger zone and accepts 16 inputs. Up to two MTL831B transmitters can be combined on a single MTL838B-MBF receiver input for a total of 32 analog inputs.
